Hello everyone its been awhile since our site was last updated.  I would like to begin by thanking everyone for their love support and generosity.  When I started thinking about having a fundraiser for Hailey I never imagined that we would be touched by so many people.  Hailey has been a blessing in all of our lives in so many ways.

Hailey is doing great.  She turned three years old in June.  We say that she is terribly three right now.  She is into everything.  She figures out how to get everywhere and do everything she thinks she should be doing, even if Mom and Dad do not agree.. She wants to do things all by herself.  I have to tell you on most occasions she figures it out.  She is beginning to crawl on her knees a little bit.  She can pull herself up onto her knees at the coffee table now.  We have taught her how to get down off of the sofa safely which she is so proud of.  She is starting to take a few steps with her walker and assistance.  She goes to Pre-school three days a week and  loves it.  She takes the school bus in her wheelchair.   Her class is mixed with disabled children and typically developing children.  She receives most of her therapies at school.  We are lucky enough to have her physical therapist, Pauline still with us once a week at home.  Finally, she has taken up kayaking with her physical therapist and a group of boaters with hearts of gold. She still has the independent determined, fiery spirit that has gotten her to this point in her life.

Words cannot express our appreciation and gratitude to everyone who came out for our fundraisers and made donations to HALO. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped us from providing the music to making flyers, cooking food, selling tickets, running errands, making phone calls, collecting and making raffle prizes and donations.  Face painting, set up, food prep, clean up, decorating.  The list is endless.  The response we had was truly overwhelming.

Thanks to all of your wonderful support and generosity we have received over the past nine months I am happy to announce that we have reached our goal  We had a beautiful porch and ramp built on to the front of the house in the late spring.  It is perfect for Hailey and she loves being out on the deck now.  At the end of August we were able to purchase a wheelchair van for Hailey.  We were referred to a family selling their van and it turned out perfect for us.  We could not be happier.  Hailey received her power chair about five weeks ago.  She had about two weeks to test that out before the van came.  She is doing very well learning to drive.  At first she wasn’t so sure that being on wheels was the way to go.  It has taken her a while to get used to the idea.  We practice outside every day.  She doesn’t use the chair in the house.  She is learning to use it at school and outside of the house first.  She loves riding in the van.  It has a lift and it is very roomy inside.  She even has a TV in the back and her own set of wireless speakers.  The rest of the family is very happy with the van as well.

Time is going by so quickly and I must apologize for the delay in updating everyone.  We will keep updates coming about Hailey and her progress.  We are planning on hosting another event.  We will surely let everyone know when it will be.  We hope you enjoy the pictures we have posted. Thank you all again - Debbie Walles
